What is Rockwool Flexi?
Flexi is a semi-rigid stone wool slab from Rockwool, designed to offer flexible insulation. It’s best suited for framed systems in walls, floors and roofs. Rockwool Flexi slab acoustic insulation provides both acoustic and thermal insulation. Since it’s made from noncombustible materials, it also boosts fire protection in buildings.
How to install Rockwool Flexi slabs?
In most cases, you can fix Flexi insulation without resizing. Simply push the slab into the framed space and then release it. You can bend the flexible side to fit it into a space if the slab is slightly bigger. In slightly wider spaces, the slab expands to fill the space.
To cut a Flexi slab that’s too big, use a knife with a long blade or an insulation knife. Remember to wear protective gloves and a mask to prevent irritation.
Flexi slabs are ideal for friction-fit systems and don’t require mechanical fasteners. But if you must use some, refer to Rockwool’s recommendations for the best fasteners for the application.
