130mm PIR
The 130mm PIR insulation board is a rigid PIR panel used for general insulation in homes, commercial structures, and some industrial setups.
What is 130mm PIR insulation?
PIR insulation 130mm is a sturdy but lightweight PIR panel made from polyisocyanurate (PIR) and manufactured to a thickness of 130mm. It works well as an insulation product due to its remarkably high thermal resistance and low moisture permeability.
What are 130mm PIR used for?
You will find the 130mm PIR sheets in:
- Masonry walls, framed walling systems, wall lining, and sheathing
- Flat roofs, pitched roofs, and ceilings
- Flooring
- Lofts
Some 130mm PIR insulation sheets are meant for specific applications, so always check the recommended uses for each board. For example, Kingspan Thermaroof TR24 and Kingspan Thermaroof TR27 are optimised for the insulation of flat roofs, and each is compatible only with the waterproofing systems specified by the manufacturer.
Types of 130mm PIR sheets
130mm polyisocyanurate insulation comes in various sizes, with the most common being 2400mm x 1200mm, 1200mm x 1200mm, and 1200mm x 600mm.
Most 130mm PIR sheets have low-emissivity aluminium foil facings on both sides. However, some variants feature glass tissue facings depending on their intended use.
We source our 130mm PIR panels from renowned brands, including:
- Celotex
- Ecotherm
- Kingspan
- Mannok
- Recticel
- And Unilin
Benefits of 130mm PIR insulation
There are several advantages of using 130mm PIR insulation, such as:
- Glass tissue-facing/foil-backing technology gains — PIR insulation 130mm boards are placed between glass tissue or aluminium foil. These low-emissivity facings enhance the board’s thermal performance.
- Superior thermal efficiency — PIR boards have low heat conductivity. Additionally, the foil backing lowers heat transfer, keeping the rate of heat loss low.
- Easy handling — PIR insulation has a closed-cell rigid structure, making the 130mm PIR panel simple to handle and cut.
Why choose our 130mm PIR?
Here is what makes our 130mm PIR boards stand out:
- They are strong — Even though our 130mm PIR insulation panels are lightweight, their compact structure makes them strong.
- They are durable — Our 130mm PIR insulation is made for long-term use.
- They come in a wide selection — We source our range of 130mm PIR sheets from various manufacturers, providing you with a range of options to choose from.
- They are available in different pack sizes — We sell 130mm PIR boards in packs of varying quantities, allowing you to purchase as few or as many as you like.
FAQ
How to install 130mm PIR insulation?
Once you’ve prepared the area for the installation, verify that your 130mm PIR boards can fit into the space. Resize the boards, if necessary, then lift each one and position it in the space. Refer to your installation manual for the proper fasteners and method to secure the insulation. Add a vapour control layer in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations, if needed.
How to cut 130mm PIR insulation?
Measure the board, making sure it has similar dimensions to the area to be insulated. Use markings to trace the area you are going to cut. This ensures you cut in a straight line. Don’t have an insulation saw? You’ll need a saw to slice through the material, such as a plunge saw, circular saw, or table saw, because 130 PIR insulation is quite rigid. Consider using a saw guide or fence for more accuracy.
How much 130mm PIR insulation do I need?
To know how many 130mm PIR sheets you need, measure the area that needs insulation. Next, divide this measurement by the coverage area of one 130mm PIR board. If you’ll be cutting up the boards to fit into spaces of different sizes, add a few more boards so you have enough insulation.
