A versatile insulation solution for diverse building applications, 40mm PIR insulation keeps your interiors warm or cool, depending on the season. This board is used for general insulation as well as room insulation.
The 40mm PIR board consists of a polyisocyanurate (PIR) core flanked by aluminium foil facers on each side. PIR, a thermoset rigid foam, has excellent insulation properties and is formed by mixing polyols and isocyanates. The resulting foam is heat-treated and expanded to 40mm, then processed and shaped into rectangular boards that are fitted into diverse spaces to improve thermal insulation.
Most contractors rely on 40mm PIR insulation sheets for wall, floor, and roof insulation in both commercial and residential settings. These sheets are ideal for internal and cavity walls since they can fit into small spaces. You can install them in floors with underfloor heating and use them to insulate timber, concrete, and suspended floors, among other types of floors. Fix 40mm PIR insulation on your ceiling or roof to meet your roof insulation needs.
Although 40mm PIR sheets are available from various brands, they are all manufactured in a similar manner, resulting in identical properties and performance profiles. To view the technical details of an individual PIR 40mm product on our website, click ‘Specifications’ and ‘Product Documents’ under each listing. Some of the popular brands you can find at Insulation Wholesale are:
Each PIR 40mm board comes with installation instructions from the manufacturer. Follow the recommended steps for a flawless process. Remember that incorrect installation can lead to poor heat retention.
Measure the part you want to cut and mark it. It’s best to use several markings across the length or width of the board, as this will help keep your cut straight. Cut along the markings using a hand saw or utility knife. You can use any other type of fine-toothed saw with a sharp blade.
The number of boards you buy depends on the size of the area you plan to insulate. To find out how many PIR 40mm polyisocyanurate insulation boards you need, measure the area that needs insulation in square metres and divide this by the coverage each board offers (determined by the board size).
