80mm PIR
80mm PIR insulation is a mid-thickness PIR board that falls between thinner PIR sizes and the thicker panels on the market. It’s useful for many room insulation requirements, both in commercial structures and homes.
What is 80mm PIR insulation?
The board is made from polyisocyanurate. This compound is a foam-like plastic formed when isocyanates and polyols are mixed and subjected to a temperature- and pressure-controlled treatment process. It’s then laminated with foil, expanded to a thickness of 80mm, and after further processing, it’s cured and cut into various sizes.
What are 80mm PIR used for?
Sheets are appropriate for use in smaller spaces where a 120mm or 100mm board would not fit.
They are ideal for both internal and external wall insulation, and can be applied to masonry walls, framed walls, and internal wall linings.
You may also use them to insulate pitched roofs, flat roofs and ceilings.
80mm polyisocyanurate insulation is also excellent for insulating floors. Use it with timber floors, suspended floors, concrete floors and other types of floors that an architect may recommend.

FAQ
How to cut 80mm PIR insulation?
Insulation Wholesale explains that this material is easily cut using a sharp utility knife or saw. If you do not have an insulation saw or knife, you can use a hand saw, jigsaw, circular saw or any other type of saw.
How to install 80mm PIR insulation?
Begin by cleaning your work area. Next, measure and cut the PIR board to the correct size for the area you want to apply it. Fix the boards into position, ensuring they fit tightly to eliminate any spaces between them or between them and the joists. Use either mechanical fixings, like screws, or a suitable adhesive to secure the boards.
How much 80mm PIR insulation do I need?
This depends on the size of the area you want to insulate. A big space will require more boards than a smaller one. Measure the total area to be covered, then divide it by the coverage of a single board to figure out how many boards you need. Experts at Insulationwholesale.co.uk recommend using enough 80mm PIR insulation to satisfy building regulations.
