What is Polystyrene 250 kPa?
EPS 250 is tested to handle 250 kPa at 10% compression. That means it stays firm even under heavy loads. Its closed-cell structure keeps it stable over time, and with a declared thermal conductivity (λ-value) between 0.032 and 0.034 W/m·K, it keeps floors insulated without adding bulk.
What is Polystyrene 250 used for?
As a floor product, polystyrene 250 kPa is fitted under screeds, concrete toppings, and paved terraces, where it helps prevent sagging, reduces deflection, and protects floor finishes.
It is mainly used under:

How to cut EPS 250?
- Mark the cut line with a pencil and a straightedge.
- Support the board fully on trestles or a flat surface.
- Use a handsaw for small cuts, a circular saw for thicker boards, or a hot-wire cutter for super-clean edges.
- Keep the blade straight as you cut. Thicker boards may require slower passes and steadier control.
- Remove loose beads.
Always wear PPE and manage dust and debris while cutting.
How much weight can EPS 250 hold?
EPS250 kPa can resist 250 kN/m² at 10% compression. That is roughly 25 tonnes per square metre under test conditions. Actual usable load depends on the screed, topping, and build-up above the EPS.
EPS 250 is not a load-bearing structural slab and must be installed within an appropriate floor build-up. So, ensure the floor build-up matches project load requirements.
