Moisture Resistant Plasterboard

High humidity spaces like bathrooms and some kitchen zones need more protection than regular plasterboard can provide. They require moisture resistant plasterboard, often called MR board or green plasterboard.

These panels are not waterproof, but they perform much better in damp or steamy conditions than regular plasterboard.

What is green plasterboard?

It is made from a gypsum core with moisture-repellent additives, enclosed within durable paper facings. Green plasterboard is simply another name for moisture resistant plasterboard. It is a special type of board made with water-repellent additives that slow down moisture absorption.

Although it is often mistakenly described as waterproof plasterboard, this panel is not waterproof. It performs well against humidity and splashes, but it is not meant for constant water exposure, such as inside showers, unless first protected with a tanking system.

What is green plasterboard used for?

Moisture plasterboard is fitted anywhere humidity can weaken standard plasterboard.
