Ecotherm Insulation Board
The EcoTherm insulation board is a rigid PIR (polyisocyanurate) panel designed to prevent heat loss in buildings. Its thin and light structure makes it suitable for use in spaces where space and strength matter.
What is EcoTherm insulation sheet?
EcoTherm insulation sheet is a flat, foil-faced sheet made from polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core in the middle and protective aluminium foils on both sides. The foam core traps heat, while the foil facings reflect radiant heat and protect the core from moisture and mechanical damage.
EcoTherm insulation boards must be installed above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) when used for floor insulation. They are suitable for domestic ground-bearing floors and ground-supported concrete slab systems, and have high dimensional stability.
They are commonly sold in various product ranges, such as Eco-Versal (versatile use), Eco-Cavity (for masonry cavity walls), and Eco-Bond, Eco-Torch, and Eco-Fix (for flat roofs only). These insulation boards can have a long service life depending on the background and supporting structure.
What is EcoTherm insulation used for?
It is commonly installed in:

Types of EcoTherm boards
EcoTherm insulation comes in these ranges:
- Eco-Versal – The all-rounder
Eco-Versal is a multi-performance panel made for wall and floor systems, pitched roofs, and ceilings. For floors, fit it above the DPM. It gives strong insulation in a small thickness and is suitable for applications that require solid thermal performance without adding bulk.
- Eco-Cavity – For masonry cavity walls
Eco-Cavity is specifically designed for installation between two masonry leaves in cavity wall construction. It comes in a size that allows installers to place wall ties correctly and leave a clear air gap in line with cavity-wall requirements. A thin construction that offers solid thermal gain.
- Eco Inno-Bond – For fully bonded flat roofs
Eco-Bond is intended for the fully adhered, single-ply flat-roof system and mechanically fixed membrane on timber, metal, and concrete decks. That means the membrane is stuck or fixed to the board rather than loose-laid.
- Eco Inno-Torch – For bitumen and torch-on systems
Eco-Torch is designed for roofs that use torch-applied or roll-and-pour bitumen felts. One side is prepared to accept hot bitumen or torching so the waterproof layer bonds reliably. Use Eco-Torch with torch-on felt or mastic asphalt finishes.
- Eco Inno-Fix – For mechanically fixed single-ply membranes (and tapered options)
Eco-Fix is mechanically fixed and accepts single-ply membranes. There are flat and tapered versions for drainage and falls. It is BBA-assessed for use on limited-access concrete, timber, and metal decks, so it is a good pick where a contractor will screw or fix the board down.

- Fire Performance – EcoTherm Eco-Versal achieves a BS 476-7:1997 Class 1 surface spread of flame classification. The system’s specific fire resistance will be determined by the conditions of operation.
